Championship Night September 14, 2013

September 15, 2013

Championship racing wraps up regular season schedule at Yakima Speedway YAKIMA, Wash. (September 14, 2013)-With six divisions in action on the  famed half-mile of Yakima Speedway for championship night, the 2013  regular season concluded with plenty of excitement.
Leading the charge was Pure Stock defending champion Chris Marang as  he topped the field in the A-Trophy Dash then dominated the night's  main event en route to backing up his title last season by scoring yet  another in 2013.
Veteran Jack Anderson, who'd post several main event victories this  season in the Pure Stock division, ran second to Marang with Mike  Denton rounding out the top--3 finishing order.
In the Limited Late Model division Randy Marshall Jr. claimed the  night's fast time award with Darrell Tidrick and Robbie Miller   winning the A and B Trophy dashes respectively. Andy Beaman led the  first two laps of the main event before Tidrick overtook him for the  top spot. Tidrick held the point through the race's 21st lap as  Marshall moved by for the lead and eventual race victory. The win  added to Marshall's points total as the Moxee native earned the  division's championship with Terry Cook winning the Rookie of the Year  award.
The second season of the Mini-Stock racing has been exciting as Josh  Parmentier has been one of the top drivers in the class and Saturday  night was no different as he won the A-Trophy Dash and ran second in  the main event behind race winner Mike Valcich to score the  championship.
Also having a solid night in the Mini-Stock class was this year's  Rookie of the Year, Josh Reiners, who ran fourth in the B-Trophy Dash  and sixth in the main event to win the award.
Derek Raptcheff debuted a new car in the Hornet division as he set  fast time, ran third in the A-Trophy Dash and bested AJ Rose and 2013  Hornet champion Jeff Ball for the main event victory.
Tim Edris and Robert Patton rounded out the top-5 running order.
Joe Stevens on the strength of his win in Saturday's Bump to Pass main  event was crowned the 2013 champion. Stevens topped Donnie Stevens and  the night's fast time winner Josh Aguirre for the victory with James  Butler and Julie McAlpin rounding out the top-5.
In Hobby Sportsman action Buck Noel Jr. set fast time with Kyler  Conduff winning the A-Trophy Dash and Chris Morrison grabbing the  B-Dash victory. Morgan Morrison led the early laps of the main event  then giving way to rookie Zack Washington. On lap seven Rich Peters  took over the lead and went on to hard fought win over Conduff and Noel.
Morgan Morrison earned his first Hobby Sportsman championship with  Trever Flora picking up the Rookie of the Year award.
Racing returns to Yakima Speedway, an ASA (American Speed Association)  sanctioned racing facility Sept. 27-29 with the running of the 26th  Annual Fall Classic featuring Late Models, Hobby Stocks and  championship racing for the Northwest Pro 4 Alliance along with the  West Coast Street Stock Series.
